Activities I Recommend to REALLY Experience Maui
One of my favorite activities to do on Maui is to photograph people and marine life in the water. Getting out in the ocean on a boat is the best way to do this.
Alii Nui offers an amazing fun and adventurous trips to Molokini and more. Alii Nui leaves from Maalaea Harbor and offers complementary transportation. Or if you prefer to drive there is lots of parking available. Alii Nui provides easy access on and off the boat from a secured dock. They have a dinner sail and the only floating night club on Maui, Club Alii Nui, for late night entertainment (21 and over). I’m not a big night club person but I went out on Club Alii Nui with my kids… lol… young adult kids and we had a blast!
I also do weddings on their boat through Creative Island Visions, my wedding photography company. If your looking for a private charter and someone to capture the moments… look them up and ME!
If you just want to get out on the boat, you can contact them at www.aliinuimaui.com. You will have a great time. Be sure and let them know I sent you!
I love the ocean and swimming with a mermaid is quite the experience. I met Lila in the airport we were getting on the same plane. She was carrying her tail and of course that prompted me to ask her if she was a MERMAID! I’ve been following her around in the sea ever since. She has her own Mermaid School here on Maui. If you love the water and like wearing a tail look her up. Call me too and I will capture some moments under the sea!
There are a lot of shave ice stands in Maui. I have more than one favorite. I walk my dog along the south shore where I live and we hit them all. But my favorite is about 2 miles from our home. At least once a week we make the walk there with my dog. Located in Rainbow Mall, S&Q’s Coffee & Shave Ice Shack order it with ice cream on the bottom and haupia on top! You can’t go wrong with any of the flavors. Lately I’ve been into pina colada and red raspberry. I spent a lot of time as a kid in Waipahu, catching the bus to the north shore was a weekly event for me. Stopping at Matsumoto’s Shave Ice is one of many favorite memories. When I am on Oahu it is still one of my favorite places to stop at.
Yes, I have a tattoo… Keahi grew up with my kids and works at Pacific Rootz Tattoo in Kihei. I’ve watched his work over the years and finally one day I did it, I let him tattoo me. I love it! He is so talented. You can find him on Facebook and Instagram @keahitattoo or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org
Pint and cork
It’s fairly new to Wailea and located in the Shops of Wailea. Don’t let the fact that it recently opened in the last year. The owners and staff there have all been in the service industry here for years. They have really come together with ill his spot. The food is amazing and the bartenders know their stuff. If you are looking for a nice spot for good food and friendly people stop in and try the Mac and cheese. You won’t be disappointed.
Jonarz and Sparrow Seas
If you are looking for something unique to take home from your trip here. Check these guys out. They are usually at one of the Friday events. Especially fourth Friday in Kihei. Jonarz is an artist who creates beautiful hand painted art pieces. One day I’m gonna get him to do one of me. Sparrow Seas creates her own style of jewelry. Her Maui pendent is amazing. She can put a heart on it wherever you want it. So if you got married here you could put a heart in the general location. So cool!
I live in Kihei and my office is here as well so I support fourth Friday. If your on Maui and a Friday is part of your trip find one of these Friday events to attend. Great food, live entertainment and local arts and crafts
